The Next Adventure

Over 4 months ago, I took a test and learned our family of 2 would increase to a unit of 3. Since January, I've felt a myriad of emotions ranging from happiness to anxiety to sadness and now, joy and excitement. I have so many things on my mind and I'm feeling like putting it out there in the universe rather than keeping them locked away in my private diary. So many people blog about their pregnancies nowadays, so I know I'm not alone. I aim to write more regularly because I've learned that keeping things bottled up just does not work when you're pregnant and homesick. I don't think I'll write exclusively about pregnancy and baby stuff, but I might. It's my pregnancy and I can do what I want to! But yeah, great and exciting things ahead.

  2. Wouldn't pregnancy tests be so much more fun if they changed up the positive signal by region and made them slightly more ambiguous? Like, in Scotland, it should just say: "AYE!"

  3. Thank so much guys. We're really happy and it's truly an adventure. C7, I really would not have liked a Glaswegian "Aye!" right after I peed on this stick!

  4. Kaki! Hi! It's Anna Calvesbert (now Thornton). You're going to make a great mother. Congratulations. It will be hard to be far from your family......but possibly less difficult than your actual anticipation of that difficulty. That's my experience of things. I now have a 19 month old and another on the way in July and with us living in Ottawa (well, Aylmer) with my family 6 hours off is crappy. They love our little Jude so much and he loves them too even though he sees them so infrequently. Video chatting online is great and so's the phone and it helps keep a connection. It's not the same as the real thing, but you will get very busy with your own stuff and it'll be amazing. The joy from that little person as he or she gets bigger and smarter and more capable FILLS your heart to the brim. So much fun. (You'll have lots of challenges ahead, but oh so many more rewards). You will do great. Yaaaaaaayyyy!!

  5. Anna! It is SO great to hear from you. Thanks so much for the positivity - I'm believing I'll be a great mom more and more everyday. I anticipate that it will be so tough to be so far away from everyone I love and trust and I'm prepping against PND but you just never know. We're planning on getting a camcorder and we have SKYPE so planning a lot of video chat because I believe it should take the edge off. We really need to catch up. Do you remember my last name? My email is firstname.lastname@gmail.com Email me when you have the time. Congrats on your current pregnancy and being the mom to a toddler. Little do you know how much you've made my day and put optimism back in my heart for a couple of aspects in my life that I'm working through.

Crazy Aunt Lou, you've also inspired me. I'm feeling so great these days!
